An 8 year ride for kids

Put an end to Bullying & Adolescent Suicide

In year 3 of this mission, I introduced a bicycle ride to my travels to raise
awareness about issues kids are having to deal with at far too young an age.
Bullying and Adolescent Suicide are two of these challenging burdens most kids
will unfairly have to overcome throughout the remainder of their lives. At rides
end we will have ridden enough miles to traveled the perimeter of the earth, twice.
My mission on this ride has but one focus: To save kids lives.

Congratulations to Alexandra on receiving the Good Citizen Award for standing up to bullying at her school.
This needs to become commonplace at all schools across the country.

Protecting from Harm

When a child is bullied, it is hurtful to many. When the child has Asperger syndrome it adds another layer of hurtfulness. A child struggling to get by while lacking some of the social skills of others his or her age has enough of a challenge with day to day interactions. It takes a very hands on approach of a parent to protect their child from harm.

Always an Honor to Ride in This Parade

The bucolic Village of Gates Mills was my home for nearly twenty years. I always love coming back, especially this time of year. The 4th of July parade is always a very patriotic affair. Thank you to everyone for the overwhelming support and hundreds of ovations.
Happy Independence Day to everyone!!

Dinner is Deserved

It is always nice seeing friends when I travel…and it’s even nicer when you get invited to dinner.
Friends, Warren and Betsi with their dog Khaki rescued me from a “much too busy” road for riding. After the miles I rode today, I feel, dinner was deserved.

Below is the Mission Statement for the Begun Center at Case Western Reserve University in the Mandel Community Studies Center building. What a jewel this place is in the City of Cleveland.

The Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education promotes social justice and community development by conducting applied, community-based and interdisciplinary research on the causes and prevention of violence, and by educating and training social workers, teachers, law enforcement and other professionals in the principles of effective violence prevention. The center also develops and evaluates the impact of evidence-based best practices in violence prevention and intervention, and seeks to understand the influence of mental health, substance use, youth development and related issues on violent behavior and public health. The center seeks to advance knowledge through dissemination of information in the scientific literature and attempts to bridge the gap between science and practice to inform public policy related to violence prevention.

I loved seeing this sign in Cleveland. It challenges all of those who love this town to profess their positive thoughts of this great city. Cleveland is truly The City of Kindness.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Alex Twum, Regional Director for Education of the CEF. All the way from Ghana, Alex was proud to tell of his teachings of Christ to children.
