An 8 year ride for kids

Put an end to Bullying & Adolescent Suicide

In year 3 of this mission, I introduced a bicycle ride to my travels to raise
awareness about issues kids are having to deal with at far too young an age.
Bullying and Adolescent Suicide are two of these challenging burdens most kids
will unfairly have to overcome throughout the remainder of their lives. At rides
end we will have ridden enough miles to traveled the perimeter of the earth, twice.
My mission on this ride has but one focus: To save kids lives.

Cross Your Fingers

July 9th, 2013

7-9-13I left the San Francisco Bay area today, to head back to the relatively flat terrain of the east coast of the United States. The Kindness Bus was not up to the task of being able to climb the grade to Donner’s Pass so I decided to back track some 100 miles to Sonoma to have The Kindness Bus serviced. This is going to give it the best possible chance of making it to the east.
Keep your fingers crossed!

I Love Emails Like This

July 8th, 2013

Hi Bob-
I am a Middle School Counselor in the Gates Chili school district in Rochester, NY.  We are active in the kindness movement at our school and in 2014 it will be our 3rd year of celebrating Kindness Week Feb. 10-16. Our district has adopted the Spartan Way (our mascot) as our guiding principles of Hard Work, Respect, Responsibility and Compassion.
So please let me know if you’re going to be in the northeast because we would love to host a visit.
Hope to hear from you soon and many blessings as you continue your journey.
Jeanne

A Streetcar Named Inspire

July 7th, 2013

7-7-13The Kindness/Mitzvah Streetcar, you gotta love it! Traveling throughout the streets of San Francisco, this converted streetcar touts a free ride for the price of an act of kindness. What a nice reminder for everyone, free ride or not. For me, that is the main objective, reminding one and all who read the signage, to perform acts while busily going about their routines.
“I thought it was great, It hit everything I wanted to see here… and I think it’s a great concept. I feel like the world needs more acts of kindness,” a Los Angeles resident said in a recent interview.
In every city around the world, it is good to have reminders such as this and have goodness spread one kind act at a time.

Always on the Ready

July 6th, 2013

7-6-13He is always in a good mood, always ready for any new adventure that comes his way. He is the perfect pooch for the job.
While out on my rides during the course of the day, Bogart can be found napping on The Kindness Bus…did I mention he is a very lucky dog as well? He is the best alarm I could possibly have, alerting me to a knock on the door while letting those know, there is life inside…I am very lucky as well.
Thank you Bogart!

Nineteen Heroes at Heaven’s Door

July 5th, 2013

7-5-13Today is the 40th anniversary of the 11 firefighters who lost their lives in a tanker explosion in Kingman, Arizona. On March 22nd of last year, I rode through Kingman, Arizona on my ride to honor Heroes: Wounded Warriors and  Police & Firefighters killed in the line of duty. On that day, I spent a couple of hours praying at the memorial to these hometown Heroes.
Having the tragedy of 19 Heroes lose their lives a week ago in Yarnell, AZ, while fighting a wildfire a mere 120 miles from Kingman is too much of a coincidence to bear. These 19 Heroes laid down their lives as an act of love, fighting to save others from harm. May they rest in the glory of heaven the 11 Heroes of Kingman have known for 40 years.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Training Wheels for Life

July 3rd, 2013

7-3-13Learning to ride a bike takes guidance and persistent assistance. Enjoying the ride is the long term objective. The same holds true for life’s ride of being guided with kindness.
Schooling children at home provides an opportunity for parents to guide them with kindness with persistent assistance. Being a parent should be a dedication of one’s life as role model and positive influence to children.
A parent is the child’s “training wheels” for life.
