An 8 year ride for kids

Put an end to Bullying & Adolescent Suicide

In year 3 of this mission, I introduced a bicycle ride to my travels to raise
awareness about issues kids are having to deal with at far too young an age.
Bullying and Adolescent Suicide are two of these challenging burdens most kids
will unfairly have to overcome throughout the remainder of their lives. At rides
end we will have ridden enough miles to traveled the perimeter of the earth, twice.
My mission on this ride has but one focus: To save kids lives.

A Couple of Fifty Nine Year Old Kids

I met Michael Thorpe in front of Buckingham Palace. This jolly man, my age, approached me with a friendly inquisitive smile. He embodies everything British…everything good. Just seeing him makes you want to smile. A great conversation ensued about all the goodness of kindness, compassion respect and gratitude…both of us sharing boyhood stories with plenty of grins. We talked of what I do and when asked of him he said “I worked for years, for the wonderful woman inside.” A great man with a great job for a great woman. Just meeting Michael, made today a great one for me.

Whoops !! Thumbs Up from Now On !!

In looking on Wikipedia this morning for Churchill’s famous hand “V for victory” salute. I now realize that the “V” hand sign is insulting to many Brits…my apologies.
My hand sign is only one of peace in the US and my wish for the UK and the world.
I will now however, only give the “thumbs-up” sign from now on. Maybe I should check Wikipedia on that as well.

I hope Bogart doesn’t see this photo, he might want his own level to himself….actually, the Bluebird of Kindness is more than the two of us will ever need. It has the only amenity all of us will ever need…kindness!

Digging Deep

June 1st, 2014

6-1-14

I will, and have at times, dug deep to keep continuing this mission. My 2nd night in London was one of those times. Having nowhere to stay, and all of the local hotels having their “no vacancy” signs displayed, I opted for an outdoor shed of the family who gave me a bit of time on the first night, in their much too small place. Not wanting to put their son out on the streets to make room for me, I asked for a quilt and pillow and headed for their shed. Filled with an assortment of “stuff,” which I arranged in the dark, I drifted off for a short sleep, realizing, upon awaking, I was sharing the shed with some unknown four legged animal. The chilly damp night and strong “shed aroma” pushed me out as well. It was a very short night of sleep and a long night of being awake on the streets.
Having the energy to ride for twelve or more hours a day,  a good night’s rest is most welcome. That, thankfully, is now being provided by some very generous caring individuals, stateside.

The Kindness Bus is headed to Blacksburg, Virginia, six months later than planned but in perfect time.
May the beauty of the words written on the Kindness Bus bring comfort to those in need…in Blacksburg and throughout the world.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this move a reality.
Kindness always,
Bob and Bogart too

A Great Day in London

5-30-14 2

Today in my travels from Ealing to London and back again, I visited many popular spots in the center of London. Waves of people flooded some of the areas. The brightest spots of the day were the conversations. In today’s photo are Dave, Patrick and Simon. I was blessed to have a wonderful conversation with these three 8th graders and a couple of their friends about kindness in the UK spreading across the globe!

The Global Kindness Tour is safe and sound in London.
After my lodging for the entire sixty-three days in London fell through when I arrived, the wonderful people at AtoB Hotel are letting me stay for very cheap at their boutique hotel and for free on Sundays.
Their £30 price includes a full breakfast every morning…unheard of in one of the the most expensive cities in the world.
