Today is the 40th anniversary of the 11 firefighters who lost their lives in a tanker explosion in Kingman, Arizona. On March 22nd of last year, I rode through Kingman, Arizona on my ride to honor Heroes: Wounded Warriors and Police & Firefighters killed in the line of duty. On that day, I spent a couple of hours praying at the memorial to these hometown Heroes.
Having the tragedy of 19 Heroes lose their lives a week ago in Yarnell, AZ, while fighting a wildfire a mere 120 miles from Kingman is too much of a coincidence to bear. These 19 Heroes laid down their lives as an act of love, fighting to save others from harm. May they rest in the glory of heaven the 11 Heroes of Kingman have known for 40 years.
