Heart of Kindness

Thursday, February 14th, 2013

2-14-13Valentine’s Day always takes place during One Million Acts Of Kindness Week. The connection, because of these two events coinciding, is pure perfection.
Many of the groups who sign up for One Million Acts Of Kindness Week are are collectively of the same heart… an open heart looking to share love and kindness with others.
Please have a heart of kindness in all of your dealings going forward. The world could sure use it about right now.
There is still plenty of time to sign up for One Million Acts Of Kindness Week. Please do so today.
The heart in today’s blog is on the rear of The Kindness Bus, where it is written: You have such a big “heart” share it with everyone.

Fort Pierce, Florida

Wednesday, February 13th, 2013

2-13-13Making my way further north along the coast of Florida, one of my favorite stops along the way is the town of Fort Pierce. Their is never a shortage of conversations. JoAnn and Tammy were having coffee as I rode by on The Kindness Bicycle. They became instant fans of the mission, even making contacts for me in future stops along the way. A huge thanks to James, a good friend of mine from the area is a wonderful caretaker of Bogart. He spent the day with us as we traveled about. Victoria, who was on her way to work, said she was stopped dead in her tracks at the sight of The Kindness Bus.
Future arrangements were made today for visits to a couple of schools along my travels. It was another great day in a great town.
Thank you to Aleese Kopf and Jeff Langlois of the Palm Beach Daily News for the great story and photo in their newspaper. A link to the story is below.

Welcome to Worth Avenue

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013

2-12-13Rounding the corner onto Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, Florida, during the first few minutes of my daily ride on The Kindness Bicycle, I saw an amazing sight, it was a Kindness Rocks sticker from One Million Acts Of Kindness. I knew it was going to be a good day.
My first of many stops was to the Palm Beach Fire Station. Mike, an Assistant Chief was all ears as I told him about my current ride addressing Bullying and Adolescent Suicide, he was blown away when I told him about the previous ride for Wounded Warriors and Police & Firefighters killed in the line of duty. His Firehouse has a very impressive memorial honoring those who perished on 9/11.
I paid visits to the Palm Beach Day School and Palm Beach Elementary School to the delight of those I talked with.
Palm Beach Atlantic University was another one of my visits. I am finding that many students either know of or have had a personal connection with The Kindness Bus Tour.
The 4th annual One Million Acts Of Kindness Week is having a big impact, as groups from around the globe are helping those in need.

A big thank you to the Palm Beach Daily News for the interview and photograph for tomorrow’s edition.

Project Description:
Our school, Veterans Memorial Elementary School, would like to encourage our students K-5th graders to reach a certain goal of acts of kindness at our school. We are going to create a tree that can bloom the leaves of kindness. As each student performs an act of kindness, they will be able to write the act of kindness on a leaf and add it to the tree.
