Across the country, during the next couple of weeks, money will be raised for children’s cancer research. Alex’s Lemonade is a wonderful organization which was started in June 2000, by a four year old girl named, Alexandra “Alex” Scott. Having childhood cancer, inspired Alex to have lemonade stand to raise funds for cancer research, her first stands raised $10,000. Within four years, every state had at least one stand during this nationwide event. In 2004, Alex’s brave battle ended. The annual tradition of Alex’s Lemonade Stands, continue in her honor, to this day. To date, over 30 million dollars have been raised.
Recently, I had the honor to talk at a benefit for Mia Strobel, another young girl with cancer. It was there that I met a woman named Melissa, who is very dedicated employee of AlexsLemonade.org. The Kindness Bus Tour will be in Philadelphia on June 12th for “Lemonade Days,” the annual event of this great organization. Please visit their website to sign-up to have your own lemonade stand to help bring an end to this terrible affliction.
